Hermann Hagedorn

Hermann Hagedorn (1882–1964) was a German-born American poet, biographer, and historian. Born in Germany, he emigrated to the United States and became known for writing literary and historical works, including biographies. He is especially associated with Theodore Roosevelt, producing notable biographical writing on Roosevelt and helping shape Roosevelt’s public legacy. Hagedorn also served as the first executive director of the Theodore Roosevelt Association, a role that reflected his long-standing commitment to preserving and promoting Roosevelt’s memory. Alongside his biographical and historical work, Hagedorn wrote poetry and contributed to American letters in the early twentieth century.
