Ian St. John

Ian St. John (1938–2021) was a Scottish professional footballer, best known for his years at Liverpool FC and for representing Scotland internationally. A forward, he became a key figure in Liverpool’s rise during the 1960s, playing under manager Bill Shankly and contributing to major domestic successes. St. John also played for Motherwell and later Coventry City, and he earned multiple caps for the Scotland national team. After retiring as a player, he remained a familiar presence in football through media work and public appearances. Though not a literary author, his name is closely associated with British football history.
