Irv Kupcinet

Irving R. “Irv” Kupcinet (1912–2003) was an American newspaper columnist, radio/TV personality, and sports broadcaster based in Chicago. He became widely known for “Kup’s Column,” a long-running gossip and entertainment feature that helped make him a prominent voice in the city’s media scene. Kupcinet also worked in broadcasting, appearing on radio and television and covering sports for Chicago audiences. His career linked journalism, celebrity reporting, and sports commentary, and his name became closely associated with Chicago’s mid-20th-century popular culture. He remained a familiar public figure for decades, continuing to write and broadcast well into later life.
