Ivan Panin

Ivan Nikolayevich Panin (1855–1942) was a Russian-born American mathematician and Bible scholar best known for developing and promoting “Bible numerics,” a system claiming that the original biblical texts contain intricate numerical patterns. Born in the Russian Empire, he later emigrated to the United States, where he studied at Harvard University. Panin devoted much of his life to analyzing the Hebrew and Greek scriptures through counting methods and published works arguing that these numerical structures supported the Bible’s divine inspiration. His approach, sometimes associated with the term “Panin Bible,” attracted both interest and criticism and remains a notable example of numerological biblical study.
