Ivy Baker Priest

Ivy Baker Priest was born in Kimberly, Utah in 1905 and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A Republican, Priest ran for Congress in Utah in 1934 and 1950. Although she was unsuccessful both times, she later served as Treasurer of the United States under President Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1953 to 1961. Priest was also elected to the office of California State Treasurer and served from 1967 until her death in 1975. Priest was the mother of Pat Priest, the actress who played Marilyn Munster in the TV show The Munsters.
