Jack Buck
Jack Buck (1924–2002) was an American sportscaster best known as the longtime radio voice of Major League Baseball’s St. Louis Cardinals. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II before beginning a broadcasting career that took him to St. Louis. Buck became a signature presence on Cardinals games for decades, calling numerous postseason moments and earning a reputation for clear, dramatic play-by-play. Beyond baseball, he also worked nationally on NFL broadcasts and other major sporting events. His honors include election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Ford C. Frick Award. He was the father of broadcaster Joe Buck.
