Jack Lemmon
Jack Lemmon (1925–2001) was an American actor whose career spanned stage, film, and television. Born in Newton, Massachusetts, he studied at Harvard University before serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Lemmon became a major Hollywood leading man and character actor, winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for *Mister Roberts* (1955) and later the Academy Award for Best Actor for *Save the Tiger* (1973). He is widely associated with director Billy Wilder, starring in *Some Like It Hot* (1959) and *The Apartment* (1960). He also frequently collaborated with Walter Matthau.
