Jack Santino

Jack Santino (born 1948) is an American folklorist and scholar whose work focuses on public folklore, ritual, and commemorative practices. He has been a longtime professor at Bowling Green State University, where he has taught and written on the ways communities express identity and meaning through festivals, ceremonies, and memorials. Santino is the author and editor of influential studies in the field, including *All Around the Year* and *Spontaneous Shrines and the Public Memorialization of Death*. His research examines how everyday cultural performances and public acts of remembrance shape collective memory and social life.
