Jacqueline Winspear

Jacqueline Winspear is a British author best known for the Maisie Dobbs mystery series. Born in Kent, England, she moved to the United States in 1990 and later became an American citizen. Winspear’s debut novel, *Maisie Dobbs* (2003), introduced a former World War I nurse turned private investigator, and the series follows Maisie through the social and political aftermath of the war and into the interwar years. Her work is noted for historical detail and an emphasis on character and moral inquiry. In addition to the Maisie novels, Winspear has written standalone fiction and nonfiction.
