James A. Autry

James A. Autry (1940–2023) was an American author, poet, and business executive best known for writing about servant leadership. He worked at Meredith Corporation, where he served as president of the Meredith Magazine Group. Drawing on his experience in corporate leadership, Autry wrote widely read books that emphasize values, purpose, and the human side of management, including *Love and Profit* and *The Servant Leader*. His work argues that effective leadership begins with service, respect, and personal integrity rather than authority alone. Autry also published poetry, bringing a reflective, plainspoken style to both his verse and his leadership writing.
