James Earl Jones

James Earl Jones (1931–2024) was an American actor celebrated for his commanding voice and distinguished career on stage and screen. Born in Arkabutla, Mississippi, and raised in Michigan, he became a leading performer in American theater and film. Jones won two Tony Awards and received an Academy Honorary Award, along with Emmy and Grammy recognition. He appeared in films including *Dr. Strangelove*, *The Great White Hope*, *Field of Dreams*, and *Coming to America*. His voice work became iconic as Darth Vader in the *Star Wars* films and as Mufasa in Disney’s *The Lion King*. He was also known for *The Hunt for Red October*.
