James McAvoy

James McAvoy (born 21 April 1979) is a Scottish actor known for work in film, television, and theatre. He gained wider recognition for roles in *The Last King of Scotland* (2006) and *Atonement* (2007). McAvoy plays Charles Xavier/Professor X in the *X-Men* film series, beginning with *X-Men: First Class* (2011). He also starred in M. Night Shyamalan’s thriller *Split* (2016) and its follow-up *Glass* (2019). On stage, he has appeared in major productions in London, including *Macbeth* (2013).
