Jane Fonda

Jane Fonda (born 1937) is an American actress, activist, and author. The daughter of actor Henry Fonda, she began her film career in the early 1960s and became a major screen presence with roles in films such as *Klute* (1971) and *Coming Home* (1978), winning Academy Awards for both performances. Fonda also achieved wide popularity through her fitness books and workout videos, beginning with *Jane Fonda’s Workout* (1981). A prominent political and social activist, she has campaigned on issues including civil rights, women’s rights, and opposition to war. She has also written memoirs, including *My Life So Far* (2005).
