Jean Kerr
Jean Kerr (1922–2003) was an American author and playwright known for her witty observations of domestic life. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she studied at Marywood College and later at The Catholic University of America. Kerr gained wide popularity with her essay collection *Please Don’t Eat the Daisies* (1957), drawn from her experiences as a mother and as the wife of theater critic Walter Kerr. She also wrote the hit Broadway comedy *Mary, Mary* (1961), which ran for more than 1,500 performances and was later adapted into a film. Kerr contributed essays to magazines including *The New Yorker* and *McCall’s*.
