Jerome Klapka Jerome (1859–1927) was an English writer and humorist best known for the comic travelogue *Three Men in a Boat* (1889), a classic of late Victorian comic writing. Born in Walsall, Staffordshire, he worked in varied jobs before turning to journalism and literature. He also wrote the sequel *Three Men on the Bummel* (1900) and the novel *Paul Kelver* (1902), alongside numerous essays and short pieces. Jerome edited the magazine *The Idler* and later *To-Day*. His work is noted for its conversational style, gentle satire, and keen observation of everyday life.
