Jill Clayburgh

Jill Clayburgh (1944–2010) was an American actress acclaimed for her work in film, television, and on stage. After early theater training, she became associated with New York’s vibrant stage scene and later gained wide recognition in 1970s cinema. Clayburgh earned major award nominations for her performance in *An Unmarried Woman* (1978), a landmark role that helped define her screen persona as a modern, intelligent leading woman. She also starred in the romantic comedy-drama *Starting Over* (1979). Over subsequent decades she continued acting in films, television projects, and theater productions. Clayburgh died in 2010.
