Jim Bishop
James Alonzo “Jim” Bishop was born in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1907. He dropped out of school after the eighth grade and started working as a copy boy at the New York Daily News. Bishop got a job as a cub reporter at the New York Daily Mirror in 1930, where he worked until he joined Collier’s Magazine in 1943. Bishop spent the latter part of his career writing biographies of famous figures and books with Christian themes. Some of his most notable books were the bestselling The Day Lincoln Was Shot and FDR’s Last Year: April 1944-April 1945.
