Jim Butcher

Jim Butcher (born October 26, 1971) is an American fantasy author best known for *The Dresden Files* and the *Codex Alera* series. Raised in Independence, Missouri, he began writing while in college and sold his first novel, *Storm Front* (2000), launching *The Dresden Files* and its wizard-detective protagonist Harry Dresden. He followed with *Codex Alera* (2004–2009), a six-book epic fantasy sequence, and later started the steampunk-inspired *The Cinder Spires* with *The Aeronaut’s Windlass* (2015). Butcher’s work blends fast-paced plotting, humor, and genre-crossing adventure, earning a wide readership and multiple award nominations.
