Jim Morrison

James Douglas “Jim” Morrison (1943–1971) was an American singer-songwriter and poet, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band The Doors. Born in Melbourne, Florida, he studied film at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Formed in Los Angeles in 1965, The Doors achieved major success with songs such as “Light My Fire,” with Morrison noted for his baritone voice, improvisational style, and provocative stage presence. He also published poetry during his lifetime, including *The Lords and the New Creatures* (1969). Morrison died in Paris, France, in 1971, at age 27.
