Joaquin Miller
Joaquin Miller (1837–1913) was an American poet and writer, widely known as the “Poet of the Sierras.” He was born Cincinnatus Hiner Miller and later adopted the pen name Joaquin Miller. His work drew on the landscapes and legends of the American West, and he became associated with frontier themes and the Sierra Nevada region. Miller’s poetry and prose helped popularize Western settings for a broad readership, and his public persona emphasized rugged independence and outdoor life. He remained a recognizable literary figure in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and he died in 1913.
