Joe DiMaggio

Joseph Paul DiMaggio (1914–1999), known as Joe DiMaggio, was an American professional baseball player and longtime center fielder for the New York Yankees. He played 13 Major League seasons (1936–1942; 1946–1951), missing three years during World War II while serving in the U.S. Army Air Forces. A three-time American League Most Valuable Player, DiMaggio helped the Yankees win nine World Series championships and was selected to 13 All-Star teams. He is best remembered for his 56-game hitting streak in 1941, an MLB record. DiMaggio was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955.
