Joel Osteen

Joel Osteen (born 1963) is an American televangelist, pastor, and author. He became senior pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, in 1999, following the death of his father, John Osteen. Under his leadership, Lakewood grew into one of the largest congregations in the United States and moved its services to the former Compaq Center. Osteen’s sermons are broadcast widely on television and online, emphasizing encouragement, hope, and practical Christian living. He is also a bestselling writer of inspirational and self-help–oriented Christian books, including *Your Best Life Now* and *Become a Better You*. He is married to Victoria Osteen.
