Joey Adams

Joey Adams (January 6, 1911–September 7, 1999) was an American comedian, actor, and author best known for his joke books and light, aphoristic humor. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he built a long career as a nightclub performer and television personality, becoming a familiar presence in mid‑century American entertainment. Adams also appeared in films and on stage, and he wrote popular collections of one‑liners and comic observations, including *Joey Adams’ Encyclopedia of Humor* and *Strictly for Laughs*.
