Johan Wolfgang Von Goethe

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749–1832) was a German writer, poet, playwright, and statesman, widely regarded as a central figure of German literature. Born in Frankfurt am Main, he achieved early fame with the novel *The Sorrows of Young Werther* (1774), a landmark of the Sturm und Drang movement. Goethe later settled in Weimar, where he served the duchy in administrative roles while pursuing a wide-ranging literary career. His dramatic poem *Faust*, published in two parts (1808 and 1832), is considered his masterpiece. Goethe also wrote lyric poetry, dramas, and prose, and his work influenced European Romanticism and beyond.
