John Galsworthy
John Galsworthy (1867–1933) was an English novelist and playwright. Born in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, he studied at Harrow School and New College, Oxford, and trained as a barrister before turning to literature. He is best known for *The Forsyte Saga*, a sequence of novels and stories chronicling the fortunes and values of an upper-middle-class family in late Victorian and Edwardian England. Galsworthy also wrote plays, including *Strife* and *Justice*, noted for their social themes. In 1932 he received the Nobel Prize in Literature. He died in London in 1933.
