John Maeda

John Maeda (born 1966) is an American designer, technologist, and author known for work connecting design and technology. He studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and later joined the MIT Media Lab, where he became a professor and led research exploring digital media and design. Maeda is widely associated with the idea of simplicity in design, including through his writing on how to make technology more human-centered. He also served as president of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Across his career, he has worked in academia and industry and has published books and essays on design, creativity, and innovation.
