John Oates

John Oates (born April 7, 1948) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and producer best known as one half of the pop-rock duo Hall & Oates with Daryl Hall. Raised in North Wales, Pennsylvania, he met Hall in Philadelphia in the late 1960s, and they began recording together in the early 1970s. As Hall & Oates, Oates co-wrote and performed on a string of major hits, including “Sara Smile,” “She’s Gone,” “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do),” and “Maneater.” He has also released solo work and collaborated with other artists.
