John Templeton

Sir John Marks Templeton (1912–2008) was an American-born investor and philanthropist who later became a British citizen. He founded the Templeton Growth Fund, a pioneering global mutual fund, and built a reputation for value-oriented investing and international diversification. Templeton also established the John Templeton Foundation, which supports research and dialogue on “big questions,” including human purpose and the relationship between science and spirituality. Born in Winchester, Tennessee, he studied at Yale University and as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford. He was knighted in 1987 for his philanthropic work and contributions to public life.
