Jonathan Safran

Jonathan Safran Foer (born 1977) is an American novelist and essayist. He is best known for the novels *Everything Is Illuminated* (2002) and *Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close* (2005), both of which brought him wide attention for inventive storytelling and emotional range. Foer has also written nonfiction, including *Eating Animals* (2009) and *We Are the Weather: Saving the Planet Begins at Breakfast* (2019), which address food ethics and climate change. He studied at Princeton University. Foer’s work often blends humor, tragedy, and formal experimentation while exploring memory, family history, and contemporary moral questions.
