Kanye West

Kanye West was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1977. He moved to Chicago with his mother when he was three years old. As a teen, West became involved in the local hip-hop scene. Although West received a scholarship to attend Chicago’s American Academy of Art, he transferred to Chicago State University and later dropped out to pursue his music career. His breakthrough as a rapper came after he was in a near-fatal car accident in 2002; the experience inspired him to write the song “Through the Wire,” which became his first hit single and laid the foundation for his debut album. To date, West has recorded six critically acclaimed studio albums. His daughter with girlfriend Kim Kardashian was born in June 2013.
