Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith (born August 2, 1970) is an American filmmaker, screenwriter, actor, and podcaster. He rose to prominence with the low-budget comedy *Clerks* (1994), which introduced characters and settings that recur across his “View Askewniverse” films. Smith wrote and directed features including *Mallrats* (1995), *Chasing Amy* (1997), *Dogma* (1999), and *Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back* (2001), often blending pop-culture humor with frank dialogue. He frequently appears on screen, notably as Silent Bob. Beyond filmmaking, Smith has built a substantial career in podcasting and live speaking engagements.
