Lance Armstrong
Lance Armstrong began his sporting career at age 12, winning a junior triathlon at age 13. He turned professional in his early 20s with the Motorola Cycling Team. Within the first four years of going pro, Armstrong won two Tour de France stages and placed at the 1996 Summer Olympics. In October ’96 at age 25, Armstrong was diagnosed with stage three testicular cancer. After chemotherapy, drug therapy and surgery, Armstrong was declared cancer-free in February 1997, and went on to win the Tour de France a record seven consecutive times between 1999 and 2005. In 2012, Armstrong was stripped of these titles and banned from cycling for life for doping offenses by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
