Lee Cronin

Lee Cronin is a British chemist and professor at the University of Glasgow. His research explores complex systems chemistry, including how chemical networks can display emergent, life-like behavior. Cronin is also known for advancing chemical automation, developing robotic and digitally controlled approaches to chemical synthesis and discovery. He has promoted the idea of “robotic chemistry,” using programmable platforms to run experiments, collect data, and accelerate the search for new molecules and materials. Through his academic work and public writing and talks, he has argued for more automated, data-driven methods in the laboratory, aiming to make chemistry faster, more reproducible, and more accessible.
