Lily Tomlin

Lily Tomlin was born in Detroit, Michigan. She attended Cass Technical High School, followed by Wayne State University, where she fell in love with theater and the performing arts. After graduating, Tomlin began doing stand-up comedy at Detroit nightclubs and then in New York City. In the mid-’60, she started making TV appearances, beginning with The Merv Griffin Show in 1965. In 1969, Tomlin joined Laugh-in, creating many classic characters. Her career would go on to span TV, Broadway, comedy recordings, and feature films, including Nashville, Nine to Five, The Beverly Hillbillies, and others.
