Lloyd Alexander

Lloyd Alexander (1924–2007) was an American author best known for children’s fantasy. He is widely associated with *The Chronicles of Prydain*, a five-book series inspired by Welsh mythology. The final volume, *The High King*, won the Newbery Medal. Alexander wrote numerous books for young readers beyond Prydain, building a reputation for stories that combine adventure with moral growth. His work helped shape modern fantasy for children in the United States, and his Prydain novels remain his most enduring contribution to the genre.
