Lloyd Douglas

Lloyd Cassel Douglas (1877–1951) was an American minister and novelist. Born in Indiana, he was ordained in the Lutheran ministry and served congregations in the Midwest before turning to writing. Douglas became widely read for inspirational fiction that blended religious themes with popular storytelling. His best-known novels include *Magnificent Obsession* (1929) and *The Robe* (1942), the latter a historical tale set in the Roman Empire that became a major bestseller. He also wrote *Green Light* (1935) and *The Big Fisherman* (1948). Douglas spent his later years in California, where he died in 1951.
