Loretta Lynn

Loretta Lynn (1932–2022) was an American country music singer-songwriter whose life and work were closely tied to her Kentucky upbringing, earning her the nickname “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” She rose to prominence in the 1960s and became known for songs that brought working-class experience and women’s perspectives into mainstream country music. Lynn also wrote the memoir *Coal Miner’s Daughter* with George Vecsey, recounting her early life and career. Over decades of recording and touring, she became one of country music’s most recognizable voices and an influential figure in the genre’s modern history.
