Louis Antoine Léon de Saint-Just
Louis Antoine Léon de Saint-Just (1767–1794) was a French Revolutionary politician and theorist. Elected to the National Convention in 1792, he aligned with the Jacobins and supported the execution of Louis XVI. In 1793 he joined the Committee of Public Safety, becoming a close ally of Maximilien Robespierre and a leading voice for radical republican virtue and centralized revolutionary government. Saint-Just served as a representative on mission with the armies, helping enforce policies during the Terror. After the fall of Robespierre on 9 Thermidor (27 July 1794), Saint-Just was arrested and guillotined the next day in Paris.
