Ludwig Frank
Ludwig Frank (1874–1914) was a German Social Democratic politician and a member of the Reichstag. Active in the SPD, he became notable in 1914 for supporting Germany’s war policy at the outbreak of World War I, a position that set him apart within a party marked by intense debate over militarism and internationalism. Frank served as a parliamentary representative and was identified with the party’s reformist wing. He volunteered for military service after war began and was killed in 1914 during the early fighting on the Western Front. He is remembered chiefly for his political career rather than for literary work.
