Lyle Lovett (born November 1, 1957) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and actor whose work blends country with elements of folk, jazz, blues, and gospel. Raised in Klein, Texas, he studied journalism at Texas A&M University. Lovett released his self-titled debut album in 1986 and gained wider recognition with albums such as *Pontiac* (1987) and *Lyle Lovett and His Large Band* (1989), noted for sophisticated arrangements and wry storytelling.
