Marat Safin

Marat Safin (born January 27, 1980) is a Russian former professional tennis player. Known for his powerful game and volatile on-court intensity, he won two Grand Slam singles titles: the 2000 US Open and the 2005 Australian Open. Safin reached world No. 1 in the ATP rankings in 2000 and was a key member of Russia’s Davis Cup team, helping the country win the title in 2002 and 2006. He also won multiple ATP Tour singles titles and was regarded as one of the most naturally gifted players of his era.
