Marc Benioff

Marc Benioff grew up in the San Francisco area. While still in high school, he founded a company called Liberty Software, which specialized in Atari games. Benioff graduated from the University of Southern California in 1986. Benioff joined Oracle Corporation, where he worked for 13 years, eventually becoming the company’s youngest vice president. In 1999, Benioff started the company salesforce.com, which revolutionized the software industry by introducing the “platform as a service” model. Benioff has also authored several books, including the bestselling Behind the Cloud (2009). Benioff and his wife Lynne Krillich have been named among the Top 25 Most Effective Philanthropists by Barron’s.
