Margaret Elizabeth Sangster

Margaret Elizabeth Sangster (1838–1912) was an American poet, writer, and editor known for her work in widely read 19th-century periodicals. She published poetry and prose that often addressed domestic life, moral themes, and everyday experience, reaching a broad popular audience. Sangster also wrote for children and contributed to the culture of family reading through verse, essays, and editorial work. She served as an editor at *Harper’s Bazar* (later *Harper’s Bazaar*), a leading women’s magazine of the era, and became a recognizable literary voice in American magazines and newspapers. She died in 1912.
