Mark Applebaum

Mark Applebaum (born 1967) is an American composer and professor of music at Stanford University. His work is associated with experimental and contemporary music and often incorporates theatrical and multimedia elements. Applebaum has written pieces for instruments, voices, and mixed media, and he is known for performance works that explore gesture, language, and unconventional sound sources. In addition to composing, he teaches and mentors students in composition and related areas at Stanford. His output spans concert music and staged works, reflecting an interest in how music can be experienced visually as well as aurally.
