Martha Grimes

Martha Grimes was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1931 and spent much of her childhood in Western Maryland, where her parents owned the Mountain Lake Hotel. Grimes attended the University of Maryland, College Park, earning her B.A. and M.A there. Grimes is an author of detective fiction, best known for her “Richard Jury” series of page-turning crime novels. In 1983, Grimes was a recipient of the Nero Wolfe Award for best mystery of the year for a book in her Richard Jury Series, The Anodyne Necklace. In addition to writing novels, Grimes has also taught at Montgomery College, Frostburg State University, and the University of Iowa.
