Michael Sandel

Michael J. Sandel (born 1953) is an American political philosopher and professor at Harvard University. He is known for work on political theory and public philosophy, especially debates about justice, liberalism, and the moral limits of markets. Sandel has taught the popular Harvard course “Justice,” which has been adapted for wider audiences through public lectures and media. His books include *Liberalism and the Limits of Justice* (1982), *Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do?* (2009), and *What Money Can’t Buy: The Moral Limits of Markets* (2012). He is also a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
