Muhammad

Muhammad ibn Abdullah (c. 570–632 CE) was a religious, political, and military leader in Arabia and is regarded by Muslims as the final prophet of Islam. Born in Mecca, he began receiving revelations around 610 CE, which were later compiled as the Qur’an. His message emphasized monotheism, moral accountability, and social justice, and it met strong opposition from Meccan leaders. In 622 he and his followers migrated to Yathrib (later Medina), an event known as the Hijra that marks the start of the Islamic calendar. In Medina he led a growing community and established alliances. He returned to Mecca and died in Medina in 632.
