Nancy Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi (born 1940) is an American politician who represented California in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1987 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, she served as Speaker of the House from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023, becoming the first woman to hold the post. Pelosi also served as House Minority Leader (2003–2007; 2011–2019) and House Minority Whip (2002–2003). Known for her role in advancing major Democratic legislative priorities, she has written and co-written books reflecting on her public life and political leadership.
