Napoleon Hill
Napoleon Hill was born in a one-room cabin in Pound, Southwest Virginia. Hill began writing for small-town newspapers in the area of Wise County, Virginia at age 13. In 1908, Hill was working on an assignment which required him to interview Andrew Carnegie. Hill discovered Carnegie believed that there was a very simple “formula for success” that anyone could follow. Hill and Carnegie went on to publish a book based on this theory, The Law of Success (1928), for which Hill interviewed many of the most successful people of the time, including Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, John D. Rockefeller and others. Hill published many more books in the personal-success literature genre, with Think and Grow Rich (1937) becoming his most famous work.
