Niall Ferguson

Niall Ferguson (born 1964) is a Scottish historian and author known for writing on economic and financial history, empire, and geopolitics. He has held academic posts at the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, and Harvard University. Ferguson is a Senior Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. His books include *The Pity of War* (1998), *Empire: How Britain Made the Modern World* (2003), *The Ascent of Money* (2008), and *Civilization: The West and the Rest* (2011). He has also written and presented television documentaries based on his historical work.
